Automobiles in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.

City officials said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

An important official commented the attack left him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
